Dr. Kenneth Gerstein - Specialist in Periodontics

Dr. Gerstein was born and raised in Chicago, IL where he received his B.S., D.D.S. and specialty certification in Periodontics from the University of Illinois. He is the recipient of numerous academic and clinical awards including the Stanley D Tylman Award for Prosthetic Excellence, University of Illinois Award of Merit, University of Illinois Award for Achievement in Academics, Odontographic Society of Chicago Award of Merit, and induction into OKU academic honor society. He also holds a general practice residency and fellowship in Periodontics certification from the US Navy, as well as Periodontics specialty certification from the University of Illinois and the State of Illinois.

Dr. Gerstein served in the U.S. Navy for 5 years during the Viet Nam conflict.

Dr. Gerstein is the author of published clinical articles in the Journal of Periodontology and others. He has also published and helped innovate some of the clinical bone replacement techniques currently considered the standard of care in periodontal regeneration. Dr Gerstein is also an implant surgeon who has extensive experience in implant diagnosis and placement.

He has been in dental and periodontal practice for over 35 years, and is a long time practitioner in the Bloomington area. He has also served as an instructor both at the University of Illinois and Parkland College as well as a dental consultant for other clinics.
