You may envision silver when you think of dental fillings. Thanks to advances in cosmetic dentistry, you have more options when enhancing the beauty of your smile. Drs. Mike and Marisa Milligan, two favorite dentists among patients in Normal and the surrounding areas, can provide tooth-colored fillings that blend nicely with your natural teeth. Drs. Mike and Marisa Milligan and their team at Eastland Dental Center in Bloomington understand the importance of a dazzling smile, from its impact on self-esteem to its ability to renew confidence. Drs. Mike and Marisa Milligan will explain the causes of tooth decay as well as the dental filling procedure.
It starts with what we drink and eat. Sugary drinks and foods can lead to tooth decay. Cavities are holes in the hard surface of the teeth that can grow over time. Eventually, they can affect deeper layers of the teeth and their tissues and nerves. It is important to understand the symptoms of cavities so they can be treated in the earliest stages. Symptoms of cavities include pain when eating or drinking hot or cold foods and beverages, tooth sensitivity, toothaches, visible pits in the teeth, and tooth stains.
For treatment, we will use a local anesthetic to numb the area around the affected tooth. Then, we will remove the decayed portions of the tooth. We will prepare the space for the filling by cleaning it of debris and bacteria. We will fill the area with composite resin, which hardens with a special curing light. We polish the tooth for a natural appearance. You can look forward to smiling radiantly and pain-free.
Unlike other dental materials, composite resin fillings chemically bond to the tooth structure. This provides additional support and protection to the teeth. There is often less tooth preparation required during a composite resin filling procedure, which protects the natural tooth structure as much as possible. Composite resin is a versatile dental material used for repairing chipped and worn teeth.
It is critical to address your concerns if you notice the warning signs of cavities. We will examine the health of your mouth, teeth, and gums during an appointment. Schedule yours today by calling (309) 663-4711.
