A patient who has lost or had all of their teeth extracted is often an ideal candidate for a full denture. However, Bloomington area patients who are unhappy with improper fit and function of full dentures may be interested in speaking to their trusted dental team about the advantages of dental implants.
Dental implants are frequently recommended by Eastland Dental Center. They are the “gold standard” in individual tooth replacement. This versatile treatment can also be used to stabilize full dentures. Sometimes called “implant-supported dentures,” this is the best way to keep prosthetics from slipping and sliding on the ridge of the gums. When dentures do not fit properly, patients are usually uncomfortable, typically experiencing sores and pain when wearing their appliances.
Traditional full dentures can be held in place with natural suction or dental adhesives. However, the use of dental implants allows patients the chance to enjoy favorite foods without worry of their dentures wobbling or slipping out of place. Drs. Mike Milligan and Marisa Milligan will often discuss the idea of implant-supported dentures with patients who are appropriate candidates. Implants require sufficient bone structure to ensure they will stay in place within the jaw bone. Without this, implantation may be unsuccessful. A consultation appointment and initial evaluation can determine candidacy.
