Dr. Mike
Dr. Mike Milligan is a native of Bloomington-Normal. After graduating 3rd in his class at University High School, he graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Houston. Then he went on to graduate 1st in his class at Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine in 1978. He came home to open his first practice that very same year and has been enjoying his patients ever since.
Staying on the leading edge of dental technology has always been Dr. Milligan’s goal. That’s why he has compiled over 2800 hours of post-doctorate continuing education to stay current and even ahead of the game in all aspects of dentistry. You will find that Dr. Milligan’s helpful and experienced staff members are also highly trained and up-to-date in all areas.
Dr. Mike has completed advanced training in non-surgical gum treatment and the latest in patient protection procedures. He has also studied with the leading cosmetic and implant dentists in the country. Dr. Milligan is a member and past president of the McLean County Dental Society, and has been active in several civic and community endeavors. He is Founder and President of OralSystemicLink.net “Saving Lives through Oral-Systemic Health.” He is a Founding Member, past Board Member, Past President, and Master Fellow of the American Academy for Oral Systemic Health. He is an expert in how the mouth affects the body and how to prevent many overall health problems through correct diagnosis and treatment of the mouth, including heart attacks, strokes, diabetes, Alzheimer’s, sleep apnea, and many other concerns. Dr. Mike is also a certified myofunctional therapist and trained in the Buteyko breathing method. Dr Milligan has authored several articles and he speaks to healthcare groups nationwide.
Dr Milligan’s written mission is “to help people live better.” He enjoys spending time with his lovely wife, Karen, their four wonderful children, and their nine beautiful grandchildren.
Dr. Marisa
Dr. Marisa Milligan was born and raised in Normal, Illinois. She graduated from University High School, attended Auburn University, and then transferred back to Illinois State University where she graduated in 2011 with a major in biology and minor in chemistry. Dr. Marisa won the Illinois State Women’s Amateur Golf Tournament in 2005. She was a member of the women’s golf teams at both universities and competed at the national level, winning a top SEC golf event and competing at the NCAA Championships.
Dr. Marisa graduated from Midwestern University Dental School in 2015. She was inducted into the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental honor society in 2015. She is a member of the American Dental Association, Illinois State Dental Society, McLean County Dental Society, Chicago Dental Society, and a fellow of the American Academy for Oral Systemic Health. Dr. Marisa trained with a periodontist for 2 years after she graduated dental school to be able to implement more periodontal procedures to help her patient’s dental and overall health. She has completed an implant mini residency at the McGarry Implant Institute, is trained in oral facial myofunctional therapy and the Buteyko breathing method. Dr. Marisa enjoys taking continuing education courses to stay up to date on the latest treatments and technologies.
Dr. Marisa enjoys spending time with her husband Randy, daughter Jade, son Michael and two dogs Oakley and Murphy in her free time.
