The cost of dental implants for Bloomington area patients

A smile that has lost one or more teeth is affected in many ways. It may not look as beautiful, and the missing teeth can cause problems such as bone loss, shifting of the existing teeth, and inefficient chewing. It is important that patients seek a solution from a dentist as soon as a tooth is lost or extracted to get proper treatment and enjoy a healthier smile.

Solutions for tooth loss

Patients have many options for tooth replacement including dentures, dental bridges, or dental implants. Drs. Mike Milligan and Marisa Milligan of Eastland Dental Center in Bloomington will suggest dental implants for patients who want a long-term option for replacing one or more teeth. These versatile restorations are a wonderful way for patients to restore their smiles that closely resembles their natural teeth.

Dental implants

Dental implants are titanium posts that the dentist surgically places into the bone of the jaw. The post acts as a natural tooth root would, anchored in the bone, it stabilizes the restoration over the top. Dental implants can be restored using dental crowns, bridges, or dentures, depending on the specific needs of the patient.

Many patients considering this option are worried about cost. While dental implants may cost more initially, many find that this restoration is the cheapest, considering the many decades it may be in place. Patients can use dental implants for the rest of their life without having to replace them, while alternatives such as dentures and bridges may need to be replaced many times over the course of one’s lifespan. The overall investment is a better value.
