Avoid the issues of tooth loss with dental implants from your dentist

One of the goals of your dentist is to help you keep your teeth for a lifetime. As much as we may try to avoid damage to the teeth and gums, we understand that tooth loss cannot be avoided in every situation. Whether a result of decay, trauma, or gum disease, our focus after tooth loss is to find the most suitable replacement as quickly as possible.

Tooth loss is not only a cosmetic problem but also an issue that may pose a threat to oral health. A gap in the smile does not look good and may cause you to feel embarrassed about the appearance of your smile. The repercussions of this gap can be even worse. The changes to the overall jaw structure after tooth loss may include misalignment due to shifting into the gap and also the loss of healthy bone structure in the jaw. To stop these problems, Drs. Mike and Marisa Milligan may suggest dental implants. As experienced dentists in the Normal area, Drs. Mike and Marisa Milligan have successfully treated hundreds of patients facing tooth loss.

Initially, dental implant treatment may take longer to complete, and the upfront costs may also be a bit high. In the long term, however, the time and investment put into the smile pay huge rewards.

  • A prosthetic that replaces the missing root, the dental implant becomes embedded in the bone tissue of the jaw in the months that follow insertion. The stability that is gained from the fusion of bone to implant provides unparalleled functionality. There is no worry, with the support of dental implants, of a denture sliding out of place or unexpectedly popping out of the mouth entirely. Neither food choices nor activities like laughing need to be limited after implant treatment
  • When the ability to laugh, speak, sing, and more is restored to the highest degree with implants, confidence and a better sense of self-esteem return. An unstable or uncomfortable tooth replacement doesn’t really do much for the smile. Rather than replace the visible portion of teeth, implants replace what is missing below the gums. These fixtures anchor a crown, bridge, or denture in such a way that replacements feel natural
  • A lifetime of function, confidence, and beauty can result from dental implant treatment
